Elixir Café & Juicery approached us to build a visual identity that would pair with their dream space, one that had natural wood and stone textures, natural colors, and would provide their customers will a wholistic, calming experience. With the chosen name 'Elixir', they really wanted to focus on how their primary product (cold-pressed juices) could be almost viewed as natural potions or remedies due to their ingredients. Envisioning bottles akin to those found in an apothecary or vintage drug store, we let the goal of that specific packaging drive the design process. We agreed on fonts that felt reminiscent of those aesthetics, but made sure we didn't let them veer too 'witchy' or kitschy by paring the ornate logo font with a clean san serif. The client wanted a strong symbol as part of their brand kit, so we tested various versions of potion bottles, leaves and citrus before landing on a bottle that felt atypical of a traditional bottle symbol. The leaves and citrus can be pulled out from the bottle to exist on their own, which we incorporated in patterns and packaging. In their space, the Elixir team has used their wordmark to encase a moss wall that welcomes guests into their space with both fun art and a strong brand presence. By pairing their vintage-inspired label designs with tall, slim glass bottles, they've achieved their desired touch of apothecary in their relaxing, earthen space!
